Edward Amos is a Memphis based psychologist with over 30 years’ experience at the doctoral level. This practice primarily deals with medical psychology issues. As a general rule, we only see patients referred from physicians. There are a few exceptions, but most patients are sent for evaluation by a treating provider.  Assessments most often include for bariatric surgery (over 4000 done to date since 2003), neuromodulation such as spinal cord stimulator trial (over 1500 done to date) and other aspects of pain management as well. Additionally, the office does cognitive testing when requested by a treating physician. 

With some exceptions, psychotherapy is usually restricted to patients that have been seen for evaluation, or if one of the medical practices we work closely with refers for such. If you do not fall into one of these categories, please discuss with your physician if a referral to a psychologist might be of benefit.

We do not see children under 17. We do not see patients with a primary problem of substance abuse. We also do not do any sort of marital counseling or forensic evaluations.  We do not take referrals from attorneys, government agencies or EAP programs .
